Floating On Up with the Dissolved Air Flotation Compact (DAFC)
Tried-and-true technology is being taken to new heights with Ellis Water Solutions’ Dissolved Air Flotation Compact (DAFC). Engineered for optimal separation, our DAFC takes the outlasting DAF functionality and stretches it to fit into a more squared, vertical footprint. The DAFC efficiently removes up to 99.9% of fats, oils, and greases (FOG) and suspended solids (TSS) from the wastewater while reducing the biological oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD).
The key to the DAFC technology is the entrainment of fine air bubbles with the clean effluent discharge. This air distribution can be achieved in two different ways depending on your application: spraying wastewater into a slightly pressurized tank or by using an air aspirating pump, which draws air from the atmosphere and forces it through an impeller to create the air dissolving action.
The uniquely designed 45-degree angle of the V-bottom chamber extends the width of the separation cell and is equipped with a slowly rotating ribbon type screw auger to efficiently move the heavy, gritty solids that sink to the bottom. Solids can then be discharged or collected in a solids chamber while the clean liquid effluent naturally flows to the opposite side of the DAFC.
Additionally, Ellis’ exclusive pivoted Ferris wheel skimmer is a much cleaner design for the prevention of wet solids on the skimmer blades and overall reduced maintenance.
The DAFC can be customized and used in many applications, including algae removal, food packaging and processing byproducts, oil and petrochemical production, industrial & commercial laundries, and much more.
